Sponsored by Kentucky post-secondary institutions and private sector partners, Kentucky Convergence is a conference that emphasizes innovations and best practices in the fastest-growing areas of higher education.
Currently I am serving as a Custom Development Director at Instructure, the makers of Canvas. In my current role I am assisting Higher Education Institutions scope, build and deploy custom-built software applications. These could be customizations to Canvas or be completely unrelated to Instructure products.
I have been with the company since it's start up days, and am now in my 10th year at Instructure
Prior to working at Instructure I worked in public education as a high school instructor from 2003-2014. My K12 career highlight while in the classroom was getting to pilot a 1:1 iPad initiative that helped me explore how ed-tech could be used meaningfully with high school students in a hands-on and hybrid environment. After leaving the classroom I became a district LMS administrator, online program director, and lead education technologist who coordinated efforts between the curriculum and IT departments. During that time I completed my M.A. in Education Technology Leadership from George Washington University. After becoming an Solutions Engineer at Instructure, I also completed my doctorate in Education Leadership at Northern Arizona University, and published "EXAMINING STUDENT AND TEACHER ATTITUDES OF EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY AND PERCEPTIONS OF EACH OTHER" in 2017.
